In the name of the Enviroment

Our government jumps into action with out considering the consequences. The US government has caused more pollution than all companies combined.

The next big mistake is a work in progress. The US Congress banned the incandescent light bulb starting in 2012. The incandescent light bulb will be replaced with Compact Florescent lights (CFL's). CFL's contain MERCURY. When they are thrown away they will create serious pollution. There have already been reported cases of accidental poisonings at stores carrying CFL's. If a bulb breaks in your home your children could be poisoned from the vapors. Mercury can cause brain damage. If one breaks on your carpet you will need to throw away your carpet to protect your self and family. In that case an environmental clean up company should be called to ensure complete clean up. Click the link below. Maine did 45 studies breaking CFL's. Scary stuff.

Mercury Pollution Threatens Health Worldwide, Scientists Say
ScienceDaily (Aug. 11, 2006) — Mercury pollution can threaten the health of people, fish, and wildlife everywhere, from industrial sites to remote corners of the planet.

Mercury rising? Fluorescent bulbs deliver mixed benefits
It's important to reduce mercury emissions, because chronic exposure can cause damage to the brain, spinal cord, kidneys and liver. Developing fetuses and children are at particular risk.

The ban is expected to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save homeowners about $60 annually in electricity costs.

Let's understand this for a $60 savings we are willing to risk every American getting mercury poisioning.

The 1990 Clean Air Act caused more ground water pollution than all US companies combined. Did we hear about it? No! Why? Liberals did it. Great we can breathe easy, but don't drink the water. In the 80's EPA studied MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) and concluded if it were ever used in mass quantities it would cause irreversible ground water pollution. "60 Minutes” displayed official documents from EPA itself showing the EPA was aware of the problem as far back as 1980. Yet EPA quietly let legislation pass in 1990 that would increase the use of MTBEhttp://www.amlibpub.com/essays/ethanol-and-mtbeshoud-epa-be-abolished.html The 1990 Clean Air Act allowed oil companies to use MTBE or Ethanol to make gas burn cleaner. The MTBE was less than 1/2 the cost. The rest is history. Our congress is completely at fault. When the EPA knew ground water was affected why did we wait 10 years to eliminate MBTE in gas.
Tens of thousands of gasoline spills and leaking underground tanks have caused MTBE contamination problems in many major communities throughout the nation. MTBE spreads rapidly through the environment and often pollutes nearby water supply wells. The problem is widespread and growing.

The US Environmental Protection Agency and the states of Massachusetts and Vermont said that, based on the Maine study, they are revising their recommendations for where to use compact fluorescents in a home and how to clean up when one breaks.

They said most danger could be avoided if people exercised common-sense caution, such as not using compact fluorescents in table lamps that could be knocked over by children or pets and properly cleaning up broken bulbs.
Hello! in 2012 CFL's will be the only choice.

Mercury Poisoning Factory Workers in China light bulb factories
At one factory in Jinzhou, 121 of 123 employees contained dangerous levels of mercury, with one worker carrying 150 times the government-mandated threshold.
http://www.naturalnews.com/026961_mercury_light_bulbs_hospital.html

We interviewed a maintenance man in Boston, MA. He works for an apartment complex with over 1000 units and 8 maintenance men. He claims to replace about 5 bulbs a day himself. He said all old CFL's are thrown in their dumpster. We asked does anyone properly recycle them? He said "no why would any one recycle a light bulb".

Now 8 men x 5 bulbs each a day=10,000 CFL's a year being crushed releasing their Mercury into the atmosphere.

What will happen in 2 years when 300 million people in the US throw away 10 bulbs a year each. That's 3 Billion bulbs! This will save every household $60 a year, is it worth the risk to our children and future generations?
